History of Guccio Gucci

Guccio Gucci, was born in 1881 in Florence, Italy. In 1898, Guccio Gucci left his native Florence, traveling to Paris and London. These cities helped him learn and value cosmopolitan culture, sophistication, aesthetics and luxury. In London I work as a maître at the Savoy Hotel. They comment that in that luxurious hotel, it was where he met all those articles that he later redesigned.

Brand Icons:The GG logo was created based on the initials of Guccio Gucci. This symbol was initially introduced as a brooch. Some time later it was included in the leather of suitcases, bags and sports bags. This logo serves as a visual anchor for the Gucci collection in its first pret-à-porter parade in 1968


The combination of these two letters has been present in infinite forms, colors and materials. The house created a circle joining both letters on their backs, inverted and abstract. They have been shaped in silver and gold, burned in velvet, engraved in leather, printed in suede, printed in silk and patched in crocodile and lizard.

Transformed into more than one element, today the GG is synonymous with Gucci’s history through time. It has reached a recognizable status over time.


The flag
