Switzerland has amazing train journeys. Almost two centuries ago, this country decided to communicate its mountainous diversity through the railways. Trains that climb thousands of meters of altitude through steep slopes and manage to reach where motor vehicles cannot. One of these routes is the one traced by the Glacier Express that joins the towns of Zermat, in the western Alps, and St. Moritz, in the eastern ones. The train crosses 91 tunnels and 291 bridges and the 6,100-feet-high Oberalp Pass, in a scenic journey of 7 hours and 30 minutes. Comfortable wagons, dining room and large windows to appreciate a spectacular landscape.
