Tourism began in Ancient Greece<\/a> with displacements for leisure or religious reasons of the upper class. The same thing happened later during the Roman Empire,<\/a> assisted by the existence of roads or paved roads or stones.<\/p>\r\n Tourist trips were limited to religious tourism throughout the medieval era. Tourism and pilgrimage <\/a>will come to mean the same thing. There were trips to hot spring sites of the ancient Romans<\/a> that continued to function. Saturnia<\/a> was one of them. Thermal baths were also installed in abbeys or monasteries managed by religious orders that kept the facilities in good condition for use.<\/p>\r\n The Grand Tour. <\/a>The English noble families began to manage the education that their children received, destined to occupy positions of importance in the near future. As a culmination of this education, it was advisable to take a trip through continental Europe<\/a>.\u00a0They traveled to discover the sacred places of classical culture, but also to come into contact with\u00a0European high society.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n Modern tourism was born in the 19th century, as a consequence of the Industrial Revolution, with movements whose main motivation is leisure, rest, culture, health, business or family relationships. But there is already a history of tourist travel in Ancient Greece<\/a>, the Roman Empire<\/a>, the Middle Ages<\/a> and before the industrial revolution<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n In 1880, the cities of New York<\/a>, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington<\/a> DC. They already received tourists. In the early twentieth century the automobile facilitated travel between states. Especially there was tourism to the National Parks<\/a>. Yellowstone<\/a> and Yosemite<\/a> (1890), Acadia<\/a> (1916), Grand Canyon<\/a> and Zion<\/a> (1919), Bryce<\/a> (1928). Great Smoky Mountain<\/a> (1934).
