Glacier Laguna Torre\u00a0 Trail – Chalten – Argentina<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\r\n

Glacier Laguna Torre Trail: In the Argentine Patagonia<\/strong> almost at the end of the world, in a town of 300 inhabitants called Chalten, you can visit glaciers in places that have very little human presence. The walk lasts about 6 hours from the village and you have to take everything to camp, since there is no support there.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

To move there you have to take a airplane to Buenos Aires<\/strong><\/a> (about 9 hours), another plane from Buenos Aires to Calafate (three hours more to the south). And finally in a vehicle (about four hours more) until chalten. All an adventure\u00a0and an authentic Glacier at The End of the World. It is located in Los Glaciares National Park<\/a>, in Argentine Patagonia.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Hiking on the glacier is forbidden<\/strong>. There is no presence of park rangers and control authorities. It is a very aggressive and rugged place,<\/span><\/p>\r\n

There is an iceberg floating<\/strong> in the lagoon, due to the glacier’s disconnection. This photo is taken in December, at the beginning of summer. At night temperatures reach 10 \u00b0 C\u00a0 below zero in summer<\/span><\/p>\r\n

The iceberg is present all year. In winter the lagoon freezes.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Frontal view of the glacier.<\/strong> as close as we could get. It can be noticed that the color of the ice is not white but BLUE. This is due to the compression of the ice mass during the journey from birth to the lake. The ice’s journey takes about 300 years. The river of ice can move one meter per day<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n
